Programs for Energy Efficiency
2023
Shoolini University actively provides programs for the local community to learn about the importance of energy efficiency and clean energy. The university has conducted various workshops, and a webinar series focused on energy management, clean energy, and energy efficiency, specifically targeting the local community. Faculty members from the Centre of Excellence in Energy Science and Technology (CEEST) also deliver lectures at external organizations to raise awareness about Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) related to energy, particularly SDG-7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG-13 (Climate Action).
Additionally, Shoolini University organizes significant conferences and events that emphasize sustainability, such as the National Himalayan Science & Technology Conference (HiSTCon 2023), which focused on ecological issues and sustainable development, and the CIMA-2023 conference on water conservation and agriculture. The university's commitment to environmental education is further highlighted by its involvement in the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan program, which includes outreach activities in local villages to promote sustainable practices.

The university follows energy efficiency plan as per the energy policy as already explained in above sections. The university has collaborated with NGO Healing Himalayas and conducts energy efficiency awareness, cleaning drives, plantation drives and awareness programmes and events every year. The university is also in touch with local communities through Panchayats for promoting solar cooking, use of animal waste for biogas production as energy source. A portable plastic biogas plant has been installed in the agriculture farm of the university for creating awareness among students, its employees, and local communities for further adoption in surrounding villages. The university organises awareness programmes for using clean energy to reduce smoke emissions from traditional cook stoves also. The university also has tie-ups with a renewable energy company for investment in renewable energy infrastructure Also 90% of the university lighting is based on energy efficient LED lights as mentioned in the SDG-7 report.
