The BCA (Hons) Bioinformatics is a four-year undergraduate program at Shoolini University that combines computer science with biological sciences to prepare students for careers in the field of bioinformatics. The program provides students with the knowledge and practical skills to use computing, data science, and AI to solve real-world challenges in healthcare, biotechnology, genomics, and life sciences.
Students build a strong foundation in programming, databases, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science before exploring specialised areas such as computational biology, molecular modelling, genomics, and bioinformatics. Practical labs, hackathons, and industry-oriented projects help students apply their learning and build industry-ready skills.
At Shoolini University, students learn in a research-driven environment with access to 104+ state-of-the-art laboratories and advanced facilities such as the AI & Futures Centre and AI & Robotics Centre. They also have the opportunity to earn industry-recognised certifications from leading organisations like AWS, IBM, Google, Microsoft, Stanford, NYU, Vanderbilt, DeepLearning.AI, and ISC², giving them an edge in the job market.
Students can also spend a semester abroad at partner universities across 11 countries without paying any additional tuition fee to the host university, gaining valuable international exposure. With its strong focus on research, practical learning, and global opportunities, the programme prepares graduates for careers in bioinformatics, genomics, healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and computational biology.
If a student exits after completing 3 years, the degree awarded will be BA only.
If a student completes the full 4 years, the degree awarded will be BA (Hons) with Specialisation.
