Nature has always inspired innovation and benefited civilisations since the beginning of time. Humankind has observed nature and learned to apply the principles of natural phenomena. Since the mid-1970s, the Science of Biomimicry (Design Paradigm) Studies has invoked interest among inventors and designers to examine Nature’s Paradigm, its models, systems, and processes. People learned to take inspiration from nature and solve problems in various fields of design. Thus, nature became one of the most inspiring domains to invent new solutions through design.
The School of Design (SOD) at Shoolini University focuses on a nature-centric design program along with a wide range of interdisciplinary research and innovation-driven applied fields. Located in the lap of nature, Shoolini University enjoys rich biodiversity, inspiring innovation, and creativity.
Design is a highly Interdisciplinary applied field of profession that involves subjects like Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Visual Art & Aesthetics, Natural Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Ergonomics, Physiology to HCI, XR- Extended Reality -Virtual Reality (VR) & Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), etc.
There is a global interest in interdisciplinary research leaning towards innovation-oriented research. The School of Design at Shoolini University integrates with various Schools in the university to build an interdisciplinary school and create a hub of research and innovation. This will generate ideas that will be converted into products for the service of humanity.
School is headed by Prof Amit Ray, former HoD, Design Program, IIT Kanpur & former Adjunct Professor at Charles Sturt University, Australia.
