Biological sciences comprise specialist subjects connected to the study of living organisms and the science behind ‘life’. The concept includes physiology, cell biology, biochemistry and biophysics, anatomy, covering all organisms — from micro-organisms, animals to plants.
Environmental Sciences prepare students to work on the scientific and socio-economic issues related to environment and resource management. It also focuses on the technological and policy behind creating a better environment. Students are taught to equip themselves with the new and changing concepts of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. We offer unique opportunities to participate in organised field trips to study plants and animals in their natural habitats, including protected areas, wetlands, and marine ecosystem.
Following an inter-disciplinary framework, the focus at the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences is on innovation in research and application. This helps our students to think outside the box and conduct new and cutting-edge research in biology and environmental sciences. We are ranked 4th in the country for Environmental Sciences (SCImago Rankings, 2021).
