Waste Recycling in Campus
At our university, waste management is an important part of our sustainability efforts. We actively monitor and measure various types of waste generated on campus to ensure better management and disposal practices.
Solid Waste Generation
Solid waste is generated from a variety of sources, including administrative offices, classrooms, and residence halls. Over a recorded period, the university measured solid waste generation ranging from 765 kg to 1500 kg per month. This monitoring helps us to implement waste reduction strategies and track the effectiveness of recycling programs.
Food Waste Generation
Food waste primarily comes from our cafeterias and food service outlets. This waste is tracked rigorously to reduce waste at the source and encourage composting or other forms of waste diversion. The university's data shows food waste generation varied from 1945.5 kg to 3985.5 kg.
E-Waste Generation
The university is also committed to managing its electronic waste, which includes broken or outdated electronic devices like computers, printers, and mobile phones. Recently, we measured 2780 kg of e-waste generated from various departments across the campus. This waste is sent to certified recyclers to ensure proper disposal and recovery of valuable materials.
