Status of policy for use minimization of plastic/disposables-2021
As a responsible institution, Shoolini University has always pro-actively contributed towards a better environment. Keeping in mind the policy for minimization of plastics, the university has a full ban on plastic bottles and other plastic makes to minimize the use of plastic. In the university hostels, the food is cooked and served in the re-usable steel, ceramic and bio-degradable materials. All other food joints and canteens in the campus are mandated to replace the plastic straws, plates, spoons and other cutlery with reusable cutlery of steel/ceramics. The university follows a practice of welcoming all its faculties with ceramic coffee mugs to avoid the usage of disposables for. The university has tried to recycle and create decorative flower planting space out of used waste plastic bottles. Students of Shoolini University with the zeal and enthusiasm participated in various activities like “Healing Himalayas” and “Swachta Pakhwada” campaign to create the awareness among the students as well as in the locals of nearby villages. Further, the students from the university, created biodegradable jute bags and distributed them to the people of nearby villages free of cost to make the villages plastic free.
