
More than 500 students, faculty members and staff took part in Shoolini University’s 14-kilometre marathon on Teachers’ Day. Named ‘Run for a Drug-Free Tomorrow’, the event began at Thodo Ground in Solan and ended at the campus in Bhajol.
The large student turnout added energy to the event. Students gathered around the marathon banner with faculty members and senior university leaders. Smiles, raised hands and victory signs captured the mood of the morning. The marathon promoted fitness, discipline, healthy living and awareness about the importance of a drug-free society. Participants competed in categories ranging from student runners to those aged over 70.
Chancellor Prof PK Khosla was among those who completed the entire route. He later spoke about the importance of remaining physically active at every stage of life. The Sports Department and the Dean Student Welfare Department jointly organised the marathon under the guidance of Associate Dean, Student Welfare, Prof Neeraj Gandotra. Assistant Director, Sports, Vikrant Chauhan coordinated the event, while Director Operations Brig SD Mehta (Retd) supervised the overall arrangements.
In the boys’ category, Shivnash secured first position, followed by Ankit Rana in second and Aman Raj in third. Isha won the girls’ category, while Ayushi and Shreya finished second and third, respectively. Gaurav Sharma won the 30–40 years category, with Kapil Verma finishing second. Satish Bhatia secured first position in the 40–50 years category.
Chief Learning Officer Prof Ashoo Khosla won the women’s 50–60 years category. Ashish Khosla, Founder of Shoolini University and President, Innovation and Marketing, topped the men’s category in the same age group. Col KS Nagial and Brig SD Mehta (Retd) secured first positions in the 60–70 years category. Chancellor Prof PK Khosla topped the 70+ years category after completing the entire route. The event gave students, faculty and staff a chance to mark Teachers’ Day together around the message of fitness, well-being and a drug-free future.
