Marvel Media Fest

From reels to debates, students across universities turned the fest into a vibrant stage of ideas and creativity

The School of Media and Communications at Shoolini University organised the 3rd Marvel Media Fest 2025, a two-day showcase of creativity, innovation, and media talent. The event drew participation from universities and colleges across the region, alongside enthusiastic entries from Shoolini students in categories such as photography, short films, RJ-ing, news anchoring, declamation, caption the photo, and social media content creation.

The fest opened with a welcome address by Founder-Chancellor Prof PK Khosla, who urged students to uphold ethics while communicating to the masses. Pro Chancellor Vishal Anand was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural session, while the valedictory function featured veteran photographer Swadesh Talwar as Chief Guest and noted poet and journalist Hardeep Chandpuri as Guest of Honour. The judging panel included senior journalist Ashwani Sharma and model-actor Dushyant Prashar.

A unique highlight of the fest was the International Quiz, held exclusively for Shoolini’s international students, reflecting the university’s global outlook. After a spirited line-up of contests, Chitkara University, Rajpura, emerged as the overall winner, lifting the champions’ trophy.

Encouraging young participants, Pro Chancellor Vishal Anand said, “I am open to supporting start-up ideas in media and other emerging categories. At Shoolini, we encourage innovation and creative thinking among our youth.”

School of Media and Communications Director Vipin Pubby called the fest a vital platform for students. He said, “Such media fests provide valuable exposure and help students keep pace with the latest industry trends and practices.”

There were some brilliant performances at the competitions. Ayush Gupta from Shoolini University clinched the first prize in RJ-ing, while the declamation contest went to Meghna from Himachal Pradesh University (HPU). Neeraj Sharma from HPU won the short film category, and Sameer from HPU topped the Caption the Photo contest. In Instagram Reels, the trio of Prince, Pragya, and Ishika from Chitkara University secured the first prize. Shadab Khan from Sharda University stood out in photography, while Ritika from Chitkara University won the news anchoring competition. Although Shoolini University students excelled in many categories, medals were not awarded to them to maintain fairness in the competitions.

During the valedictory ceremony, Guest of Honour Hardeep Chandpuri urged students to channel their energy into creativity rather than aimless scrolling. Chief Guest Swadesh Talwar said, “It is easy to reach the top but difficult to stay there. Media and times keep changing, but for passionate journalists, the future is always bright.”

Trustee and Director Nishtha Anand appreciated the efforts of students and faculty in making the event a success. She said, “As media landscapes evolve, our approach to education and creativity must also keep pace. Our students have done a brilliant job in organising this fest.”

The Marvel Media Fest 2025 concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, celebrating winners, participants, and volunteers.
