The three-day-long National Law Fest 2022, organised by the Centre of Clinical Legal Education (CCLE) and the Faculty of Legal Sciences at Shoolini University concluded on Friday. Himachal Pradesh Lokayukta Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia was the chief guest for the day.

Discussing the concept of justice, Justice Barowalia explained why he believed society ought to act and think justly. In his closing statement, he said, “Satyamev Jayate" to signify that justice would ultimately win out.

The first-ever Offline National Law Fest combines four primary events — a Moot Court Competition, a crime scene investigation competition, a legislative drafting/review competition, and a client counselling competition — to foster among students a spirit of competitiveness and legal knowledge.

The judges consisted of a Constitutional Bench comprising Himachal Pradesh Lokayukta Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia, former Sessions Judge BL Soni, Himachal Pradesh National Law University Vice Chancellor Prof Nishtha Jaswal, Senior Advocate Rakeshwar Lall Sood, and Himachal Pradesh University Dean and Chairman Prof Sanjay Sindhu.

In his speech, Chancellor Prof PK Khosla motivated the audience to think innovatively and nurture their ideas with hard work, enthusiasm, and respect.

The winners of the moot court competition were Shashank Mishra, Pranav Singh, and Yash Jaiswal from the Sambhunath Institute of Law. The winners received a prize of Rs 20,000 and a certificate of participation. Abhishek Sharma and Kulbeer Thakur from HPU won the crime scene investigation competition.

The winners of the client counselling competition were Shailja Raturi and Khwaish Jaggi from Uttranchal University and the Law College in Dehradun, respectively. Harishri from Sastra University won the legislative drafting online competition.

At the closing ceremony, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences at Shoolini University, Nandan Sharma, gave the welcome speech and vote of thanks.

Centre of Clinical Legal Education Director Renu Pal Sood said clinical legal education was essential for students to gain professional skills and apply the law in real-world situations.

The Centre of Clinical Legal Education was founded at Shoolini to foster various activities that promoted professional skills growth.
