Joypad Symphony organises first-ever all-women eSports; Health talk focuses on nutrition

Shoolini University celebrated International Women’s Day with two events: An exciting all-women eSports tournament and an informative wellness talk on nutrition, showcasing the empowerment of women in both the digital and health sectors.

The university’s gaming club, Joypad Symphony, took the initiative under the guidance of Social Projects and Sustainability Director Poonam Nanda. They organised the first-ever all-women eSports competition at the newly inaugurated AI and Futures Centre.

The event featured five games: BGMI tdm 1 vs 1 matches, VR games, car racing, Among Us, and Dart games. An enthusiastic batch of more than 50 players enjoyed the challenge — with a sizable crowd cheering them on. Prof Kesari Singh, Dean of Undergraduate Studies and OSD to the Vice Chancellor, inaugurated the tournament. She oversaw the event and actively joined the gaming action with great spirit.

The competition concluded with an awards ceremony where winners like Shreya Sharma in car racing, Aditi Kulshrestha in VR, Alakshya in BGMI, and Vidya in Among Us received Amazon vouchers and trophies.

Previously, on March 7 (Friday), the university hosted a talk titled ‘Empower HER Wellness by Nutrition’ to highlight the critical role of balanced nutrition in women’s health. The session, led by Assistant Professor Mamta from the Faculty of Bioengineering and Food Technology, focused on the importance of macronutrients and micronutrients in preventing conditions like osteoporosis, anaemia, and hormonal imbalances, and discussed nutrition’s impact on mental health. Chancellor Prof PK Khosla and Poonam Nanda highlighted women's vital contributions to a healthy society and the importance of nutritional awareness.

The twin events provided a platform for showcasing women’s skills in eSports and created a productive dialogue on women's wellness. Sharing her views on the vital role of nutrition, Poonam Nanda urged everyone to make mindful dietary choices.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Associate Dean Students Welfare Neeraj Gandotra
