Shoolini University organised its 6th convocation in the offline mode for 1,429 students who received degrees. The recipients included 30 PhD holders, who were also honoured on the occasion. Degrees were awarded to graduates of the Faculty of Management Sciences and Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts, as well as graduates of the School of Engineering and Faculty of Legal Sciences.

As many as 31 university medals and 27 merit certificates were given to meritorious students.

The guest of honour, Mr Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of Sports and Information and Broadcasting, speaking in a virtual keynote address, congratulated the students. He said, “Though the day marks the end of your academic journey, it is the beginning of a life of exploration and learning in the real world. The future of the country belongs to you and India is at a stage when there are innumerable opportunities for the youth.

He also spoke on how Indian products are going from local to global powered by the mantra of ‘vocal for local’, besides also throwing light on how the country is leading in all areas, hence creating so many opportunities for the young people.

Hailing the achievements made by Shoolini University, he said, “Shoolini University has provided world-class facilities and education with excellence. The university has an impressive alumni network and Shoolini University scientists have been placed in the top 1% list of highly cited researchers as per Clarivate Analytics this year. Students, you are not just part of this great institution, but a torchbearer of a vibrant tradition.”

Former Panjab University Vice-Chancellor, Padma Shri Prof RC Sobti, while addressing the young graduates and the faculty of the university as the Guest of Honour at the convocation, hailed the contributions made by the university in different spheres. “A degree is not a piece of paper and not the end but a visa and beginning to move forward,” he appealed to the students. 

He greatly appreciated the efforts of Shoolini University and how it was upholding the traditional Indian values along with technological advancements. Prof Sobti also emphasised the importance of NEP implications in today’s education era.

Shoolini University Chancellor Prof Prem Kumar Khosla welcomed Prof Sobti and thanked him for sparing time to address the students and staff of the university. He said, “Shoolini has this year figured amongst the first 100 universities of India at 89 Rank in the NIRF ranking as the lone university, including all public and private universities from Himachal Pradesh. This No. 1 research university (QS Rankings) has also crossed the milestone of filing 1,000 patents."

Shoolini University Vice-Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla, said, “During the pandemic, Shoolini was one of the first to launch online education to keep students at par with others in academics and beyond, by conducting over 1000 webinars and 61,452 virtual lectures. Speaking about his vision for the university, he said, “We have chartered our road map for achieving our 'Vision 2022' which rests upon five verticals i.e., high calibre faculty, quality infrastructure, strong alliances with industry and academia, bright and needy students supported by committed and transparent governance.

“The university has opened channels with industry for joint research projects, training programmes and industry inputs in curriculum development. The MoUs with automobile, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, computer and engineering industries are effectively being used for research and academic alignment with the Skill India Mission. The university is also having research collaborations and MoUs with several Indian and foreign Universities and institutes for research and academic collaborations.” he added.

The university also felicitated Dr Amit Kumar and Dr Gaurav Sharma, who have entered the top 1% list of highly cited researchers according to Clarivate Analytics this year.

Pro-Chancellor Mr Vishal Anand presented the vote of thanks, wishing his best to the degree recipients in all their future endeavours. He wished they would return to Shoolini with flying colours in their respective fields. 

Other dignitaries who were present on the occasion were, Foundation president Mrs Saroj Khosla and Trustees Satish Anand and Ashok Anand. 

The university also organised a cultural programme on the eve of the convocation ceremony under the supervision of DSW Ms Poonam Nanda. The Alumni Meet and Himachali Dham hosted on the campus were a big hit among the alumni coming back to the campus after two years.
