Shoolini University, one of India’s top-ranked private universities, recently welcomed a high-level delegation from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, to deepen academic collaboration. The visit was facilitated by the Office of International Affairs (OIA) on the Shoolini campus.
The visiting team included Chris Beckett, Degree Programme Manager for Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Ala Ross, Student Recruitment Officer. Over two days, the delegates engaged with Shoolini faculty, students, and leadership to discuss future academic partnerships.
The delegation toured the scenic campus on the first day and visited key research centres, including the Nanotechnology Lab and the PURSE Lab. They were also briefed on Shoolini’s extensive sustainability initiatives. Academic discussions focused on potential 2+2 articulation programmes, dual-degree courses, and collaborative online and distance learning opportunities. The day concluded with a formal networking dinner hosted by the university leadership.
Day two was dedicated to student and faculty engagement. Chris Beckett delivered a guest lecture to engineering students, while Ala Ross conducted an informative session on study options at the University of Edinburgh, particularly for final-year undergraduates aspiring to study abroad.
The delegates praised the university’s green surroundings, modern research infrastructure, and warm hospitality. Ross called her visit “a memorable experience,” while Dr Beckett highlighted the academic promise of Shoolini and commended the university’s commitment to global partnerships.
Representing the host institution, Prof Virender Rihani, Dean of the School of Engineering, and Prof MS Thakur from the School of Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering reiterated their intention to advance a dual-degree agreement with Edinburgh. The collaboration is actively coordinated by Rozy Dhanta, Deputy Director of OIA, who assured continued support in formalising this academic partnership.
