National IP Conferences
Engaging with global IP bodies, industry leaders & Union Minister Piyush Goyal, SIPRO delegation brought Shoolini's IP ecosystem into the national conversation

Shoolini University strengthened its presence in intellectual property, innovation, and design through participation in two major national conferences held in New Delhi.

A delegation from the Shoolini Intellectual Property Rights Office — SIPRO — attended the World IP Day Conference 2026 at Vanijya Bhawan on April 28. Organised by FICCI in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM), the conference ran under the theme ‘IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate’. Shoolini was represented by Himanshu Sharma, Senior Manager – IPR, and Dr Richika Mehta, Assistant Professor – IPR.

The conference examined the expanding role of intellectual property in sports — from athlete and media rights to GI tags, sports equipment innovation, wearables, and performance analytics. Representatives from global brands including ASICS, Adidas, and JioStar shared industry perspectives during the sessions. Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced a three-year waiver on government fees for sports-related IP filings, a move aimed at encouraging innovation across the sector.

The delegation also attended the CII World Innovation, Design and Intellectual Property Conference 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser and the Intellectual Property Office of the Government of India. Held under the theme, ‘Design and IP: Powering Innovation and Economic Growth’, the conference brought together experts from WIPO, the European Union Intellectual Property Office, and the UK Intellectual Property Office, alongside industry leaders from Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Qualcomm, and Meril Life Sciences.

Key highlights included discussions on innovation-led growth and design monetisation, the launch of reports on India's Orange Economy, and a CII–EUIPO masterclass on European design protection systems.

Across both conferences, delegates and experts took note of Shoolini University's approach to building a fully in-house IP ecosystem. SIPRO currently operates with a team of 10 specialised professionals working across research, innovation, IP filing, management, and consultancy — extending its services to startups, industries, and individual innovators.

The participation reflects the university's sustained focus on translating research into intellectual property, supported by its leadership and the guidance of Prof Dinesh Kumar in building out the institution's IP capabilities.
