Shoolini University has emerged as India’s top research-impact university among institutions established in or after 2008, achieving a significant milestone in academic excellence. As per Scopus data, the university has attained an h-index of 150 — the highest in its category.
The h-index is a widely recognised metric that combines the quantity and quality of research output. An h-index of 150 means that at least 150 of the university’s published research papers have been cited 150 times or more in scholarly work. This achievement places Shoolini ahead of several prestigious institutions, including IIT Indore (h-index 145), IIT Hyderabad (h-index 143), and IIT Bhubaneswar (h-index 133).
This accomplishment reinforces Shoolini University’s fast-growing reputation as a research-focused institution with global relevance. In just over 15 years since it was founded in 2009, the university has demonstrated that young institutions can lead in high-quality, high-impact research.
Founder-Chancellor Prof PK Khosla congratulated the university’s researchers and faculty for their contributions. He credited the institution’s strong research culture, global collaborations, and dedicated Centres of Excellence for driving this success.
Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla described the milestone as a validation of the university’s long-term vision. “Reaching an h-index of 150 is not just about numbers. It reflects the quality, consistency, and international significance of our research. This milestone strengthens our goal of becoming one of the world’s leading research-driven universities,” he said.
The h-index is calculated by Scopus, a globally trusted database for peer-reviewed academic literature. Used by universities and research organisations around the world, it serves as a key indicator of a university’s research performance.
Located in the Himalayan foothills of Himachal Pradesh, Shoolini University has consistently invested in building a robust research ecosystem. Its faculty includes scientists and scholars with experience at leading global institutions such as Johns Hopkins, NIH, Oxford, and IISc.
