Prof Virender Rihani is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. A distinguished academician and researcher, he has an illustrious career spanning over four decades. He completed his undergraduate studies in 1975 at the Delhi College of Engineering, now known as Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi. He pursued his Master's in Electronics Engineering at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, in 1977, where he later joined as a faculty member. Prof Rihani earned his doctorate from Panjab University, Chandigarh, specialising in Abstraction and Recognition using Artificial Neural Networks.
Throughout his tenure at PEC University of Technology, Prof Rihani held prestigious positions, including the Head of the Electronics Department, the IT Department, and the Registrar. He took voluntary retirement in 2012 after a commendable service.
Prof Rihani has an impressive record of academic mentorship, having guided over 50 dissertations at the master's and doctorate levels. He has contributed significantly to the field with more than 60 publications. His expertise is recognised nationally, as he serves on the panel of experts for the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in India.
He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a distinguished Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), reflecting his commitment to excellence and innovation in engineering and technology.
