Vajjhala Venkata Gopal

Prof Vajjhala Venkata Gopal is a distinguished academic leader, researcher, and management educator with nearly four decades of experience spanning academia and industry. As the Dean & President of the Faculty of Management Sciences at Shoolini University, he brings expertise in academic leadership, curriculum innovation, institutional development, accreditation, and industry engagement.

Over the course of his career, he has held leadership positions at institutions including IILM Lucknow, VIT Business School, NMIMS Bangalore, Alliance University, Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management, and IBS Hyderabad (IFHE University). In these roles, he has led academic planning, program development, accreditation initiatives, faculty mentoring, and institutional collaborations. 

He has also contributed to NAAC, NIRF, and AACSB accreditation processes and played a key role in strengthening academic quality and institutional outcomes.

Prof Gopal is widely recognised for his contributions to management research and case-based teaching. His scholarly work includes 10+ research publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals, case studies published by Harvard Business Publishing and Ivey Publishing, two textbooks, twelve edited books, and presentations at leading national and international conferences. His research interests include marketing, retail management, consumer behaviour, case pedagogy, and management education.

A passionate mentor and faculty trainer, he has conducted numerous Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and workshops on case writing, case teaching, simulations, and innovative pedagogical practices at institutions such as IIM Nagpur, IMI Kolkata, NMIMS, Christ University, GITAM University, Alliance University, and Manipal Learning Academy, among others. He is consistently recognised for his engaging teaching style and has received outstanding student feedback throughout his academic career.

Before transitioning to academia, Prof Gopal built a strong industry career of over 16 years with organisations including ITC Ltd, Karvy Consultants Ltd, and Kolva Financial Services. This enables him to bring practical insights into the classroom while preparing students for the evolving business landscape.

His contributions to higher education have earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the Outstanding Contributions to Higher Education Award 2026 by MTC Global. He also serves as an AACSB Peer Review Team Member, journal reviewer, editorial board member, conference chair, and advisory council member for various national and international academic organisations.

At Shoolini University, Prof Gopal leads the Faculty of Management Sciences with a focus on academic quality, research, industry relevance, and student learning.
