
Daniel Gidey Derbew
Teaching Associate
Daniel Gidey Derbew is a Teaching Associate at the Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts. He earned his PhD in Political Science from Shoolini University, where his doctoral research examined the changing dimensions of the global world order and its implications for developing and underdeveloped nations.
He holds a master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting & finance from Defence University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Gidey’s academic expertise lies in international relations, global governance, and the political economy of development, with a particular focus on South–South cooperation across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. His research interests include development assistance, conflict and peacebuilding, geopolitical transformations, and evolving power dynamics in the contemporary international system.
He has published seven peer-reviewed journal articles and a Scopus-indexed book chapter with Elsevier, and his work has been presented at prominent international academic platforms, including the 3rd International Conference on Political Science in London.
In addition to his academic career, Gidey brings over fourteen years of professional experience in national security and intelligence. He has served as a Senior Intelligence Expert and Team Leader at the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) of Ethiopia, where he led analytical teams, designed strategic intelligence frameworks, and supervised high-profile operations. He also worked as an Intelligence and Surveillance Coordinator at the Addis Ababa Police Commission, contributing to complex criminal investigations and public safety initiatives.
At Shoolini University, Gidey integrates academic scholarship with policy-oriented analysis, contributing to both research and practice in addressing global political and security challenges.
