Selamu Duguna Nageso is a Teaching Assistant at the School of Biotechnology. He holds a Master of Technology (MTech) in Biotechnology from Shoolini University and a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Biotechnology from Vellore Institute of Technology. 

Selamu’s research interests include environmental biotechnology, bioremediation, wastewater treatment, resource recovery, microbial enzyme technology, and nanobiotechnology. His work focuses on developing sustainable and innovative approaches for environmental remediation, particularly targeting heavy metal removal and degradation of pollutants using biological and nanobiotechnological methods. He integrates nanomaterials with biological systems to design efficient and eco-friendly solutions for wastewater treatment and environmental sustainability. He has actively contributed to advancing research in environmental sustainability and applied microbiology.

He has published scholarly work in book chapters with reputed international publishers and has been involved in interdisciplinary research spanning microbial biotechnology, metagenomics, and environmental monitoring.

Selamu is a recipient of prestigious scholarships, including a scholarship from the Government of Ethiopia for his undergraduate studies, and the Study in India (SII) Scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, along with institutional support from Shoolini University for his master's degree.

He has gained research and laboratory experience at Shoolini University and Vellore Institute of Technology, where he developed expertise in microbiological techniques, biodegradation studies, and environmental analysis. He has strong expertise in microbiology, enzymology, cell biology, and immunology. His research skills include microbial isolation and culturing, enzymatic and biochemical analysis, and nanomaterial synthesis, particularly metal-based nanocomposites. He is proficient in advanced laboratory techniques such as UV–Visible spectrophotometry, microbial growth kinetics, and bioanalytical assays relevant to environmental and nanobiotechnology research.

In addition to his research, Selamu  has participated in multiple Faculty Development Programs and professional courses, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Computer-Aided Drug Design, Enzyme Technology, and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance. He is also actively enhancing his expertise in data analysis and scientific computing.

Beyond academia, he is committed to social engagement and student development. He has contributed to educational activities, mentoring, and community-oriented initiatives, reflecting his dedication to knowledge dissemination and societal impact.
