Daniel Gidey Derbew is a Teaching Associate at the Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts. He earned his PhD in Political Science from Shoolini University, where his doctoral research examined the changing dimensions of the global world order and its implications for developing and underdeveloped nations.
He holds a master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Defence University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Gidey’s research explores the political, economic, technological, and security dimensions of global power transformations, with particular emphasis on the Global South. His work addresses global military expenditure, economic coercion, development assistance, conflict and peacebuilding, and evolving dynamics of the international system in a multipolar world, with regional expertise in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
He has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, including a Scopus-indexed book chapter with Elsevier, and has presented his work at national and international platforms, including the 3rd International Conference on Political Science in London. His research contributes to debates on global governance, balance of power, and South–South cooperation.
With over fourteen years of experience in national security and intelligence, Gidey has served as a Senior Intelligence Expert and Team Leader at Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), and as an Intelligence and Surveillance Coordinator at the Addis Ababa Police Commission.
He integrates academic scholarship with policy-oriented analysis, contributing to research and practice on global political and security challenges.
