Solan, November 29
Shoolini University campus was abuzz with activity as students came together after two years for the mega music event Tansen ki Khoj. Famed Bollywood singer Siddharth Basrur, known for his melodic Uri numbers (The Surgical Strike, MS Dhoni, ABCD) etc., judged the event.
The talented Shoolini students showcased their musical abilities and sang their way to the top spot. Amol from the BBA Computer Science department took first place in the Old Student Category. In the Freshers’ category, Nandini from MSc Microbiology got the first prize.
The live performance by Siddharth Basrur completely enraptured the audience as they swayed to his popular songs. Next, the Saksham Dance Club dazzled everyone as they performed in front of Siddharth Basrur.
The competition generated a lot of excitement. Only 10 students were selected as finalists after a hard-fought pre-audition round.
Dean Student Welfare Poonam Nanda said an event of this magnitude did not happen very often. "The skills of our students and the mesmerising voice of Siddharth Basrur captivated the crowd," she added.
During the three days of his stay on the Shoolini campus, Siddharth bared his soul to students, talking about his journey that had more downs than ups. Eventually, he said, he arrived at his destination and was happy in the "Now".
The event was coordinated and moderated by the office of the Dean Student Welfare.
