
Meghna Thakur
Assistant Professor
Meghna Thakur is an Assistant Professor at Shoolini University. She is a Gold Medallist in LLM from Shoolini University. Meghna also holds a BA LLB (Hons) from Himachal Pradesh University Institute of Legal Studies, Shimla. She teaches a range of subjects, including Environmental Law, Business Law, and Industrial Law, and actively contributes to academic administration and curriculum development.
Her commitment to legal education is matched by hands-on experience gained during her internships at the Himachal Pradesh High Court, and leading national institutions like the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), and the Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC), where she participated in impactful policy research initiatives. In recognition of her contribution to academia & student support, she was conferred the Best Outstanding Faculty Award (2024) by the Hon’ble Chancellor of Shoolini University.
Meghna’s research interests lie at the intersection of technology, human rights, and public law. Her work explores emerging legal challenges related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital privacy, and gender justice, particularly focusing on underrepresented communities such as the LGBTQ+ population. She has authored and presented papers on topics including cyber harassment, automated facial recognition, ransomware threats in healthcare, and freedom of speech in the digital age. Through her research, Meghna aims to bridge the gap between traditional legal frameworks and the fast-evolving digital landscape, contributing to more inclusive and forward-looking legal scholarship.
She has pursued continuous professional growth through FDPs on AI in Legal Pedagogy (Techno India University), AI, Technology & Law (NFSU Delhi), New Criminal Laws (Shoolini University), and Intellectual Property Rights (Central University of Karnataka). She also holds certifications on IT Fraud and Risk Management, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH), and Labour Laws, reflecting her interdisciplinary engagement with evolving legal domains.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Meghna has actively contributed to institutional and community initiatives. She has been a Student Ambassador at Shoolini University (2022–2023), and a volunteer with the National Service Scheme (NSS) from 2019 to 2022. She has also taken on leadership roles as a Resource Person at Govt. College Seema (Rohru), and as Chair of the International Press at Loreto Convent’s Model United Nations. During her undergraduate years, she was a Student Coordinator for numerous seminars and cultural events organised by the University Institute of Legal Studies, Himachal Pradesh University (2018–2022), showcasing her ability to merge academic rigour with organisational leadership.
