Shoolini Founder and VC recognised by LinkedIn for thought leadership and bold vision for education.

Prof Atul Khosla, Founder, President, and Vice Chancellor of Shoolini University, has been named among the world’s Top 200 Voices in Education by LinkedIn — a prestigious global recognition that honours influential thought leaders shaping the future of learning.

This milestone coincided with two key moments in Prof Khosla’s journey — 15 years since he moved to Solan to help build Shoolini University and a decade of thought leadership on LinkedIn.

Reflecting on the honour, Prof Atul Khosla said, “It’s now been 15 years in this most exciting space when I moved to Solan to help build Shoolini, and 10 years since I started writing on LinkedIn.” He added that being named among the world’s top education voices was both humbling and inspiring.

Sharing his insights on the future of Indian higher education, Prof Atul Khosla predicted a major transformation in the sector. He said global universities setting up campuses in India would soon disrupt the country’s academic ecosystem — much like Maruti Suzuki changed India’s automobile industry. “Some institutions may struggle, but others will evolve into global leaders,” he said.

Prof Atul Khosla anticipated that Indian students would increasingly prefer to study within India, while foreign students may begin choosing Indian universities — a shift that could reverse long-standing trends. He added that in the coming years, several private and state-run institutions will challenge the dominance of IITs and IIMs, with Indian universities poised to break into the top 100 globally.

Speaking on emerging academic interests, Prof Atul Khosla said programs in computer science and software engineering may see a decline in popularity, while fields like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Biotechnology, and Business will take centre stage.

He also addressed the rise of online degrees, predicting that they will gain greater social acceptance — especially among elite learners. However, he noted that the campus-based college experience will continue to hold value, particularly for the wider student population.

Prof Atul Khosla’s recognition comes at a time when Indian higher education is undergoing rapid change — and his voice continues to shape the narrative of what comes next.
