Oscars of the research world, the prestigious list is curated by Prof John PA Loannidis and his team at Stanford University.
Shoolini University is making a significant impact in the world of research, with 13 of its scientists included in Stanford University's prestigious list of the top 2% of scientists globally. This incredible achievement, published by Elsevier on October 4, further solidifies Shoolini University's reputation as a research powerhouse.
So, what's the big deal about this list? Well, it's like the Oscars of the research world. The prestigious list was curated by Professor John PA Loannidis and his team at Stanford University, sifting through data from the Scopus database to identify outstanding researchers worldwide. The selection process is based on the top 1,00,000 scientists by citation score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2 per cent or above in the sub-field. But it's not just Shoolini University that's making India proud. This year's list features a jaw-dropping 4,636 Indian researchers, putting our country firmly on the world research map.
Shoolini University's impressive presence on this list encompasses two categories: one evaluating career-long contributions and another highlighting exceptional performance in 2023. Thirteen brilliant minds from Shoolini University have been acknowledged for their outstanding work. They include Gaurav Sharma, Pardeep Singh, Pankaj Raizada, Shyam Singh Chandel, Vasudha Hasija, Anita Sudhaik, Abhinandan Kumar, Pooja Shandilya, Anil Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Swarup Roy, Deepak Kumar, and Poonam Negi.
In the career-long contributions category, six distinguished scientists from Shoolini University have earned well-deserved places on this prestigious list. They are Gaurav Sharma, Shyam Singh Chandel, Swarup Roy, Pardeep Singh, Anil Kumar, and Pankaj Raizada. These exceptional individuals have consistently demonstrated their dedication to advancing knowledge and pushing the boundaries of research.
Shoolini University Chancellor Prof PK Khosla said, “We are committed to providing our researchers with state-of-the-art facilities and support to pursue cutting-edge research that makes a difference on a global scale.”
Shoolini University boasts an impressive publication record, with 3,468 papers in Scopus-indexed journals and an H-index of <114. This achievement ranks second among all universities established in India after 2008, reaffirming their dedication to scholarly excellence.
As Dean of Research and Development at Shoolini, Saurabh Kulshrestha proudly noted, “Last year, seven of our scientists were on this list, and this year, the number has grown to 13. It's by no means a small feat. I hope this number will continue to grow in the years to come.”
Sharing his excitement, Asst Prof Rohit Sharma from the School of Biotechnology said, “It is a moment of great satisfaction to be among the elite scientists in the world, especially without a high-ranking mentor in my career. This recognition shows that our work and ideas are important, not just incremental research. Shoolini makes it all possible.”
Proud to be listed among the top 2% of scientists in the world, Professor Deepak Kumar from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, added, “This is the result of my hard work, dedication, and passion. This appreciation motivates me to set future goals in research and help my students."
So, what's the secret of their success? These scientists emphasised the key factors contributing to their recognition: publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, citations by other researchers, contributions to advancing their field, and staying up-to-date with the latest research. Collaborating with other leading scientists, applying research to real-world problems, and consistent contributions over the years are also crucial for establishing oneself as a respected authority in their field.
Shoolini University celebrates these remarkable achievements and looks ahead to more groundbreaking research and contributions on the global stage.
