Arunava Poddar

Assistant Professor

Dr Arunava Poddar is an interdisciplinary researcher specializing in modelling soil moisture dynamics in the crop root zone. His areas of expertise are Irrigation Scheduling, Soil Moisture Dynamics, Root Water Uptake Modelling, Evapotranspiration, Shallow Ground Water Table, Capillary Rise, Water Balance Studies, Water Harvesting, Sustainable Water Management. He is currently working as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Shoolini University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India. 

Prior to joining Shoolini University, he was a Senior Research Fellow at National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh on a DBT-funded project, entitled ‘Social, economic and environmental trade-offs in managing the land-river-interface'. Arunava obtained his PhD in Water Resources Engineering from the Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh (with MHRD scholarship, 2015-2020). He has also worked as Assistant Professor at Baddi University of Emerging Sciences & Technology (2014-15) and Lovely Professional University (2015).
