Anima Srivastava

Assistant Professor

Anima Srivastava is an Assistant Professor at the School of Biotechnology. She completed her National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (NPDF) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa in the interdisciplinary domain of Nanobio. Here, she focused on the synthesis of novel materials using bacterial secondary metabolites and their antimicrobial and anticancer applications.

Asst Prof Anima Srivastava earned her PhD in Microbiology from Amity University, Noida, in collaboration with the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal. Her doctoral research specialised in animal probiotics, rumen microbiota, and microbial ecology. To further enhance her expertise, she undertook a fully funded three-month international research training at University College Cork, Ireland, gaining advanced exposure to molecular and microbiological techniques.

Asst Prof Srivastava’s major research interests lie in exploring and harnessing microbial secondary metabolites through interdisciplinary approaches, with applications in health, agriculture, and biotechnology. Her broader research areas include probiotics, gut microbiome, metagenomics, microbial ecology, and host–microbe interactions.

She is proficient in a wide range of molecular and microbiological techniques, including microbial isolation, molecular characterisation, DNA/RNA/protein extractions, PCR-based analyses, qRT-PCR, ELISA, and gene expression studies. Through her interdisciplinary research and teaching, Asst Prof Srivastava continues to advance innovation in microbiology and biotechnology.
