Status of policy on ethical sourcing of food and supplies-2021
Shoolini University establishes the agriculture department and carried out the Research into resistant crop varieties, pest control, better packing and transport, low-cost storage technologies and post harvesting solutions by modern technology for example nano-polymer coating for vegetables to increase the shelf life and nanopowder as pest control.
Shoolini University has installed solar cooking system. The water flows through the pipes and the solar dishes concentrate the solar energy to the concentrators. In the concentrators the water is converted into steam and that steam is utilized for cooking. Solar cooking system was designed by Thermax which comprises of different solar parabolic collectors of 16 square meter size each for a student postal mess which cooks for 500 students. Solar parabolic dish from Thermax is a 16 m2 parabolic dish which focuses the sun light on to a point receiver where heat is concentrated. This heat is carried by the water flowing through the circular receives. System cooks major part of lunch and dinner between 10:00 AM and 05:00 PM based on availability of solar radiation. With current performance the system is expected to reduce LPG consumption.
Ministry of food processing Industry section a grant under the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampda yojana to Shoolini University. Now food testing labs for quality testing is established in the the campus.
