Through a range of CSR and social activities endeavours, Shoolini strives to contribute to building a society that is cognizant, safer, cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable.  

Shoolini actively engages in regional, national, and international platforms for policy development, aligning its efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The university’s programs span a spectrum of areas, including health and wellbeing, food and nutrition, energy, and innovation. 

The university’s collaborative initiatives extend beyond borders, with partnerships with international institutions and NGOs. From health awareness to women empowerment, the university has been at the forefront of social change. Here’s a roundup of some key social activities in 2023 that have significantly impacted various sections of society. 

Shoolini’s Fight Against Cancer: YouWeCan Cricket Championship  

This year, on February 3rd and 4th, Shoolini University hosted a series of events to mark World Cancer Day. The highlight was the Shoolini YouWeCan Cricket Championship, a thrilling tournament where eight university teams battled for the top spot. Yuvraj Singh, the legendary cricketer, shared a special message, adding star power to the event. The winners, Baby Boomers, lifted the trophy, with Akshay Chawla earning the Man of the Match title. Beyond the cricket field, the university organised a cancer awareness session for housekeeping staff and a visit to cancer patients at the Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. 

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Shoolini Collaborates with She Haat  

To foster entrepreneurship and support local women, Shoolini University joined hands with ‘She Haat’, a women’s self-help group. MBA students collaborated with the group, sharing insights on digital marketing and financial management. This initiative, part of the Advanced Training Program, aimed to enhance the economic strength of rural women. 

Extending the Canvas of Learning: Shoolini Opens Doors to Nearby Schools 

Shoolini University opened its doors to nearby schools, hosting 67 students from SouthVale School, Solan. The students explored the Yogananda Knowledge Centre, delving into various galleries, libraries, and research laboratories. The initiative aimed to inspire young minds and promote a culture of exploration and inspiration.  

World Environment Day Celebrations with Majholi Kids

Shoolini University celebrated World Environment Day differently. Apart from educational activities to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues, Shoolini student volunteers visited Majholi Government School. Shoolini volunteers conducted interactive sessions, including Kulhad Painting and a movie screening based on plastic waste. The university also organised a ‘Graveyard’ activity to raise awareness about tobacco consumption and its environmental impact.  

Capacity Building and Personal Development Program with NCW  

In collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW), Shoolini University organised a seminar focusing on gender equality and women empowerment. The event, attended by girl students from various institutions, addressed issues related to policy formulation, legislative measures, and strategies against discrimination and violence.  

Pinktober: Breast Cancer Awareness Month 

As part of Pinktober, Shoolini University collaborated with YouWeCan for a breast cancer awareness and screening test. As many as 85 women, including faculty, staff, and mothers of students, participated in the event. The university also launched the ‘Your Mother Matters’ campaign, spreading awareness through student-led talks, fundraising stalls, and a unique ‘Graveyard’ activity highlighting tobacco’s impact.
