Constitution Day: Celebrating Justice & Equality

The Faculty of Legal Sciences at Shoolini University celebrated Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) on November 26 with a series of activities, in line with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Prof Rattan Singh, a distinguished academic from UILS, Panjab University, participated as the resource person for the event.

The program commenced with Saraswati Vandana and a Lamp-Lighting ceremony followed by the welcome address by Associate Dean of Law, Prof Nandan Sharma. He highlighted the importance of understanding and upholding the Indian Constitution and the role of the Constitution in an equitable society.

Prof Rattan Singh delivered a lecture on the framing of the Constitution, the contributions of Dr BR Ambedkar, and the concepts of constitutional morality and transformative constitutionalism. He discussed the significance of the phrase ‘We, the People of India’, underlining the role of citizens in shaping the nation.

Prof Rattan Singh shared his experiences and perspectives with the students, emphasising how the Constitution, crafted in 1949, continues to address the challenges of modern times. His insights helped the audience understand the enduring relevance of the Constitution in shaping the nation’s progress.

Shoolini University Founder-Chancellor Prof PK Khosla offered a unique perspective by drawing parallels between Newton’s Third Law of Motion and the doctrine of Karma. His thought-provoking insights encouraged the audience to reflect on the interplay between actions and their consequences.

The celebration featured a series of competitions, including:

  • Preamble Reading-cum-Recitation
  • Essay-Writing Competition
  • Poster-Making Competition
  • Quiz Competition

Sana and Mannat secured first and second positions, respectively, in the poster-making competition. In the essay-writing competition, Ojaswini and Tanya emerged as the top two winners. The quiz competition concluded with Pihu and Muskan claiming the top spot. All participants were awarded certificates.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Monika Thakur, who expressed gratitude to all participants and highlighted the importance of such celebrations in promoting responsible citizenship.
