Solan, March 15
Shoolini University will be vibrant with colourful blooms at the seventh three-day Flower Fest that begins on March 17. A wide array of flowering and ornamental plants will be on sale and display. The main attraction, said Shoolini University Assistant Director Landscape & Chief Creativity Officer Suresh Sharma, will be the lucky draw, where the first 50 visitors can participate and win flowers, saplings, and attractive gifts.
Eco-friendly flower pots and vases, designed and created by students from waste materials will also be exhibited. Visitors can buy plants and planters at an attractive discount during the fest. In addition, gardening experts at the helpdesk will share tips and tricks about growing healthy indoor and outdoor plants.
There will be a variety of food stalls, fun games, and meditation and Yoga sessions for visitors. Anyone can participate and avail of the benefits.
Dean of Student Welfare Poonam Nanda said every year Shoolini University campus welcomes college/school students to enjoy the riot of colours. With an emphasis on nature and the environment, the festival showcases the beauty of flowers. It promotes the importance of sustainability and ecology —something that has always been a priority for Shoolini. From garden tours to interactive workshops, visitors will learn about the significance of nature while indulging in its beauty and colours, she added.
The chief guest at the event, Nauni University Vice Chancellor Prof Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, will inaugurate the flower fest.
