Inspiring Talks & Competitions on World Pharmacists Day 

Shoolini University’s School of Pharmaceutical Sciences celebrated World Pharmacists Day on September 25, focusing on the theme ‘Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs’. The event highlighted the vital role pharmacists played in healthcare, especially in ensuring the availability and proper use of medical supplements. 

Prof Deepak Kapoor, Dean of Pharmaceutical Sciences, warmly welcomed the chief guest, Gopal Krishan Sharma, who served as President of the Himachal Pradesh State Pharmacy Council for 10 years and was currently the Chief Pharmacy Officer in Nalagarh. He also welcomed the guests of honour, Lalit Shalta and Vikas Thakur, both drug inspectors in Himachal Pradesh. 

Prof Kapoor also conducted a pharmacist oath-taking ceremony. Addressing the audience, Founder Chancellor Prof PK Khosla emphasised the crucial role pharmacists played in the healthcare system and encouraged students to focus on research that benefited humanity. 

Chief guest Gopal Krishan Sharma delivered a talk on the ‘Role of Pharmacists in Meeting Global Health Needs’, where he explained how pharmacists were transforming global health by empowering patients and healthcare providers. Lalit Shalta shared insights into his challenges as a drug inspector and spoke about his journey in the pharmacy field. Vikas Thakur motivated students with a talk on career focus, sharing his industrial experience and offering advice on the drug inspector exam and upcoming vacancies. 

In the declamation contest, Poonam Sharma from B Pharm 1st year secured first prize, Anushka from M Pharm 2nd year won second place, and Ujjwal from B Pharm 2nd year came third. In the poster-making competition, Muskan Goyal and Kristi from B Pharm 2nd year shared first prize, Divanshi from B Pharm 1st year took second place, while Jiya and Garvit from B Pharm 1st year tied for third, along with Raja K Anand from B Pharm 2nd year. 

World Pharmacists Day, observed annually on September 25, is a global tribute to pharmacists who worked tirelessly to improve public health. It recognised their indispensable contributions to healthcare and their pivotal role in meeting the world’s health needs.
