Political science is a social science concerned with the study of the state, government, and politics and deals extensively with the theory and practice of politics and the analysis of political systems and political behaviour.

As a Political Science student, you will study and analyse theories and practices of politics and political systems, political values, political institutions, processes, and policies. You will gain insights into people and societies, issues such as war and peace, order and freedom, and justice and equality. Subjects will cover the study of the Indian Constitution, Fundamental Rights and Duties, Principles of State, Constitutional Amendment, Powers and Functions of Rajya Sabha & Lok Sabha, Judicial Structure, Electoral & Coalition Politics, Decentralised Democracy, etc., both nationally and globally. Topics such as International Relations, Comparative Politics, International Law & Organizations, and Western European and Latin American Political Systems will be taught.

A postgraduate in Political Science can choose a career in various areas such as local and national government, councils, charities, banking organizations, law firms, and retail and media companies. Recruiters also include multilateral agencies like the United Nations (UN), the European Commission, campaigning, and voluntary organisations, and the public sector. Teaching, research, and publishing are other career areas. A career in politics or social work, human rights, social or political research, and urban planning can also be considered.
