Professor Tej Nath Dhar is a Professor at Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts, Shoolini University. Prof Dhar holds MA degrees in Economics from Agra University and English from J&K University. He pursued his doctoral studies with a PhD in American Fiction from Banaras Hindu University in 1975.
Throughout his career, Prof Dhar has achieved numerous academic milestones. He served as a UGC Junior Fellow at Banaras Hindu University from 1973 to 1975. His scholarly endeavours also led him to be a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 1987-88, and he was honoured with the Middle Award from the American Studies Research Centre, Hyderabad in 1988-89. He held the position of Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla from 1990 to 1993 and served as a Senior Fellow in the Ministry of Culture, Government of India from 2010 to 2012.
Prof Dhar's teaching career is as illustrious as his academic achievements. He held positions at esteemed institutions such as Kashmir University, University of Himachal Pradesh, and Asmara University in Eritrea, where he also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts.
Prof Dhar's research interests encompass a wide array of subjects including American Literature, Indian Writings in English, African Literature, Canadian Fiction, and Postcolonial Theory and Practice. He has actively supervised research at the MPhil and PhD levels, mentoring numerous scholars and students. His dedication to research is evident through his extensive list of publications, including over 50 research essays in national and international journals and critical essay anthologies, more than 450 book reviews, and creative pieces. He has authored three books: ‘History-Fiction Interface in Indian English Novel’, ‘Under the Shadow of Militancy: The Diary of an Unknown Kashmiri’, and ‘The Tale of a Beleaguered Soldier: A Novel’. Additionally, he has edited 14 books, showcasing his prowess as an editor.
In addition to his contributions to literature and research, Prof Dhar's linguistic expertise is commendable. As a language editor for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, he has made significant contributions to the field.
