Shoolini University, in collaboration with the Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management (SILB), celebrated International Yoga Day on ‘Yoga for Women Empowerment’. The event highlighted the transformative power of yoga to enhance the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of women.

Esteemed guests, including SILB President Saroj Khosla, Chancellor Prof PK Khosla, Chief Learning Officer Dr Ashoo Khosla, and Director of Operations Brig SD Mehta attended the celebration. Director of the Yogananda School of Spirituality and Happiness (YSSH) Prof Saamdu Chetri honoured Saroj Khosla for her contributions to women’s empowerment and education.

In her keynote address, Saroj Khosla spoke about the potential and strength of women and highlighted yoga as a tool to achieve self-reliance and confidence. Assistant Prof Suman Rawat and PhD Scholar Renitta Sinha hosted the event. Rawat led a yoga session, guiding participants through various ‘asanas’ and breathing exercises. Around 120-130 individuals, including faculty members and students from SILB and Shoolini University, as well as the outreach team and their students, participated enthusiastically.

The Yogananda Library at Shoolini University also celebrated International Yoga Day with a two-day exhibition of thematic books on yoga and empowerment. Held on June 20th and 21st, the exhibition attracted over 110 students, faculty, and staff, including visits from the Chancellor and the yoga faculty.

The Yogananda School of Spirituality and Happiness also organised a significant yoga event for the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Panchkula. Over 3000 security personnel participated in this session to enhance their physical and mental resilience through yoga. Assistant Prof Apar Kaushik, under the supervision of Prof Saamdu Chetri, coordinated these events, ensuring broad outreach and impactful engagement.

On this occasion, Prof Saamdu Chetri stated, “Every existence arises in yoga and dissolves in yoga. It is not only a practice for International Day of Yoga but should become a part of every breathing moment of human beings so that the union of every individual is self with self, self with others, and self with nature before the final union with the ultimate.”
