The Faculty of Legal Sciences at Shoolini University organised an International Conference on ‘Fundamental Perspectives of Law in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)’. The event, held online, brought together academicians, researchers, legal experts, and students from across India to discuss the growing intersection of law and technology.
The conference was inaugurated by Founder Chancellor Prof Prem Kumar Khosla, who spoke about the importance of establishing ethical and legal frameworks to address challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence in governance and justice. He appreciated the Faculty of Legal Sciences for its continuous efforts in promoting research and innovation in emerging areas of law and technology.
The convenors, Associate Dean Prof Nandan Sharma and Associate Professor Renu Pal Sood welcomed the participants. They emphasised that the conference aimed to encourage meaningful discussions on how AI is reshaping traditional legal principles and systems of accountability. Co-convenors Mahavir Mandot and Priya Kashyap, research scholars at Shoolini University, efficiently managed the event.
This international conference was coordinated by Satyam Jha from the Student Support Team of KES JP Law College, Mumbai, with the support of Aadhya Legal, a multidisciplinary law firm headquartered in New Delhi.
The conference featured four technical sessions (Groups A, B, C, and D) chaired and co-chaired by academicians, including Prof Viral Dave, Prof Sanjay Sindhu, Prof Runa Mehta, Prof Tariq Mohammad, Gitika Sood, Sasha Chauhan, Bindu Sangra, and Namita Rana. Over 50 research papers were presented on topics including AI and Criminal Justice, the Legal Personhood of AI, Intellectual Property Rights, Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Human Rights.
During the valedictory session, awards were presented to recognise outstanding contributions. The Best Paper Award was given to Aseem Srivastava and Jaylaxmi Shukla from United University, Prayagraj, while the Best Presentation Award was secured by Shivam Yadav from Christ University, Delhi NCR. All participants received E-certificates of Participation, and selected papers will be published in an edited volume with an ISBN.
In his closing remarks, Prof Nandan Sharma thanked all faculty members, student coordinators, and especially Principal Viral Dave of KES JP Law College for his valuable support. He also appreciated Mahavir Mandot and Priya Kashyap for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the success of the conference.
