Asst Prof Sunil Sharma is all set to tackle pressing environmental issues.
With the alchemy of research, Asst Prof Sunil Kumar Sharma at the School of Advanced Chemical Sciences, Shoolini University, is all set to tackle pressing environmental issues. He has been honoured with the prestigious SERB International Research Experience (SIRE) fellowship for 2023-2024.
Generously supported by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, this fellowship offers him the opportunity to lead groundbreaking research at the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Hanyang University, South Korea.
Innovative research aimed at combatting air pollution
Asst Prof Sunil’s research project during his six-month fellowship at Hanyang University is visionary. He will focus on the development of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) derived graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) based heterojunctions for the photocatalytic removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are notorious contributors to air pollution and significantly threaten human health and the environment. By exploring advanced photocatalytic materials and mechanisms for efficient VOC degradation, Asst Prof Sunil's research promises to offer a sustainable solution to this environmental challenge.
A passion for environmental solutions
What drives the Asst Prof towards environmental engineering is the escalating crisis of air pollution and its dire consequences. He passionately believes that his research in this area aligns with his commitment to finding sustainable solutions for pressing environmental issues. This fellowship offers him a platform to pursue his passion and provides the necessary resources to make a real impact.
A boost to Indian research
The support from SERB and DST is pivotal in fostering scientific research in India. Asst Prof Sunil's SIRE fellowship exemplifies the dedication of these organisations to facilitate global research collaborations.
