dual degree program with university of melbourne

Students can start academic journey at Shoolini and complete it at The University of Melbourne

“Studying abroad and pursuing research has been my dream since the 11th grade,” says Mishka Joshi, a 2nd semester BSc Advanced (Honours) student at Shoolini University. “But after realising how rigorous the application process is, I thought staying in India might be a better option. That’s when I discovered the Dual Degree Program with The University of Melbourne at Shoolini.”

Through this unique program, students can begin their academic adventure in the serene hills of Shoolini University and complete it at The University of Melbourne. This program is all about revolutionising BSc education in India, giving the young ambitious students a mix of serene vibes and top-tier education.

The program focuses on four core subjects—Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics—using a syllabus designed by The University of Melbourne. Shoolini adds its touch by incorporating flexible electives, providing students with a broader and more dynamic education. Unlike traditional Indian BSc programs that encourage early specialisation, this program is an integrated approach to fundamental sciences, with a strong focus on mathematics for aspiring researchers.

Research plays a central role in this program. Students are introduced to lab work from their first semester and are mentored by experienced scientists who guide them through hands-on projects, data analysis, and scientific writing. “Even though it’s not a requirement of The University of Melbourne, Shoolini’s focus on early research opportunities sets this program apart,” said Program Director Associate Prof Lokendar Kumar. “We strictly follow the guidelines provided by The University of Melbourne. At every step, we take their feedback and keep in touch with the faculty there to let them know about the student's progress. We are also planning collaborative research projects with them,” he added.

Beyond academics, the program focuses on holistic development with regular parent-teacher-student interactions for constant feedback and improvement. “I’m so happy with my daughter's performance,” shared Maulshree Joshi, a parent. “She’s getting the right guidance, world-class education, and the opportunity to study in Australia—what more could I ask for?”

At present, about 15 students are enrolled in the program. They receive personalised attention and have access to extensive resources. After completing two years at Shoolini, they transition to The University of Melbourne, where they gain global exposure and earn dual degrees from both institutions.

“Direct admission to the University of Melbourne is no easy feat,” said Assoc Professor Lokendar Kumar. “This program offers an accessible yet rigorous pathway for students with big dreams, ensuring only the most committed individuals join through a thorough screening and interview process.”

The University of Melbourne is the No.1 University in Australia, and Shoolini is the No.1 Private University in India (QS World University Rankings). With plans to expand through joint research projects, online lectures, and faculty collaborations, this partnership is just the beginning of a transformative journey for students.

For those who dream big and aim high, this program is their gateway to global excellence.
