Shoolini University honoured its student Vishal Sharma, the ‘Top Scorer’ at the World Beach Korfball Championship 2022 at Nador, Morocco, North Africa.

Shoolini University honoured its student Vishal Sharma, the ‘Top Scorer’ at the World Beach Korfball Championship 2022 at Nador, Morocco, North Africa. The tournament is organised by the International Korfball Federation. This doctorate student, who is making history, is also the captain of the Indian Beach Korfball team. This is for the first time that India finished 7th place in the Korfball Championship. The credit for this momentous victory goes to Shoolini student Vishal Sharma!
Vishal has been studying at Shoolini since 2016 and after completing his Master's in Physics, enrolled for a doctorate at this global top 200 university. He is conducting research on Super Capacitors while scoring high in international Korfball championships at the same time!
Honouring him on his return from Morocco, Shoolini university waived his tuition and hostel fee. In addition, Chancellor Prof PK Khosla announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 per month for three years as a scholarship. Prof Khosla said Shoolini University always promoted sports activities along with quality education and research.
Vishal belongs to Sarkaghat in the Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh. His father Ashok Sharma is a schoolteacher at Sarkaghat and his mother Promilla Devi is a homemaker.
With a passion to excel, Vishal worked hard under the guidance of his coach BR Suman, who is also the general secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Korfball Association. He has worked with coaches Vinod Thakur and Anil Sharma, who is Vishal’s cousin and a former Indian Korfball player.
Earlier this month, he was also honoured by the Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs, and Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, for this achievement.
Vishal Sharma expressed gratitude to Shoolini University for their ongoing support in both sports and education. He also thanked his coaches, family and friends who supported him immensely on this journey. Vishal is also associated with the Himachal Pradesh Korfball Association and thanked them for their support.
