
Asmita Lohia
Teaching Associate
Asmita Lohia is a Teaching Associate at the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Biotechnology. She is also a Student Coordinator for the Shoolini University’s dual degree program with The University of Melbourne. She completed her master’s degree from Guru Nanak Dev University, where she cultivated a strong foundation in microbiological research and academic leadership.
Her current research focuses on the fascinating intersection of gut microbes and metabolic disorders, exploring how microbial communities influence human health and disease. Asmita has contributed to the scientific community through publications inScopus-indexed journals and has been recognised for her research excellence with an award for her poster presentation. As a Student Coordinator, she plays a key role in facilitating smooth communication between students and faculty, assisting in program coordination, and creating a supportive and collaborative academic environment.
She has qualified ICAR AICE- JRF/SRF (PhD) 2024 with AIR 232 (Microbiology). Outside of her academic work, Asmita is an avid reader and enjoys engaging in diverse interests that enrich her personal and professional growth.
