A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP), titled ‘AI Educator Bootcamp’, was organised at Shoolini University to train faculty members in the use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies for teaching, research and academic administration.
The programme was organised jointly by the Shoolini Centre for Distance and Online Education (SCDOE) and the Shoolini Learning and Development Centre (SLDC).
Addressing the inaugural session, Shoolini University Chancellor Prof PK Khosla encouraged faculty members to keep pace with technological advances and update their teaching practices in response to the changing needs of higher education.
Shoolini University President (AI and Innovation) Prof Ashish Khosla spoke about the growing role of artificial intelligence in education. He explained the fundamentals of AI and said technology should be used to improve teaching and learning rather than replace teachers.
Shoolini Centre for Distance and Online Education (SCDOE) Director Prof Amar Raj Singh Suri delivered a session on ‘The Agentic Frontier’. He explained how artificial intelligence had progressed from generating text to performing complex tasks through autonomous decision-making systems. He also discussed its potential applications in education and research.
The first day combined theoretical discussions with practical learning. In a session titled ‘The Evolution of AI: From Symbolic Systems to Generative Intelligence’, Er Navneet Jaswal traced the development of artificial intelligence from its early stages to modern generative AI models. He also discussed AI applications across academic disciplines.
Prof Amar Raj Singh Suri later conducted a hands-on session on practical AI tools. He demonstrated advanced prompting and meta-prompting techniques and trained participants to create structured prompts, set instructions and constraints, and build prompt libraries for teaching, research and academic administration.
Prof Ashish Khosla said the bootcamp required no coding, making AI tools accessible to faculty members from all academic backgrounds.
The inaugural session was also attended by Director Planning Prof JM Julka, Chief Learning Officer Dr Ashoo Khosla and Assistant Director (SCDOE) Prof Pooja Verma, along with faculty members from different schools of the university.
