More than 100 bright school students from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Pune and Ahmedabad gathered at Shoolini University for its Summer School 2025 — a two-week deep dive into science, innovation, and creativity.
Backed by Shoolini Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla’s belief that “Ideas Matter”, the immersive Summer School program 2025 was designed to equip young minds with real-world problem-solving skills — and show them what’s possible when curiosity meets opportunity.
Two flagship experiences ran in parallel: the Summer Patent School and the Summer Lab Program.
At the Patent School, students collaborated with Shoolini’s IPR team — comprising Himanshu Sharma, Richika Mehta, and Disha — to understand innovation frameworks, intellectual property, and the process of taking an idea to patent. By the end, participants had submitted over 20 patentable concepts. Sessions on entrepreneurship by Associate Professor Vinay Negi and leadership by Payal Khanna, Deputy Director and Head of the Centre for Leadership Coaching, added another dimension to the learning.
The Summer Lab Program offered hands-on tracks in three cutting-edge areas.
In Biotech, students experimented with microbiology, genetics, and molecular biology in Shoolini’s advanced labs. The Generative AI stream introduced them to AI tools, prompt engineering and ethical tech use, guided by experts, including Prof Pankaj Vaidya, Assistant Prof Piyush Sewal, Waleed Salehi, and Assistant Prof Abhishek Tomar. A third stream — Science Communication through Theatre and Film — was led by NSD alumnus and Assistant Professor Ankur Bashar, who helped students turn scientific concepts into powerful performances.
At the closing ceremony, Program Head Vinmre Kaushal said the event gave students a rare platform to explore their strengths and think beyond textbooks. “The combination of scientific learning and creative exploration made every stream stand out,” he said. “But what really made the program special was the energy these students brought from across the country,” he smiled.
