Ceremony highlighted the growth of online learning, global rankings, and the achievements of over 11,000 learners.
Shoolini University hosted the first convocation of its Centre for Distance and Online Education (SCDOE), a moment that reflected how far its online learning initiatives had come in a short span of time. Prof RC Sobti, former Vice Chancellor of Panjab University and BBAU, Lucknow, was the chief guest.
The ceremony opened with an academic procession led by the band of Shanti Niketan Child Home, Subathu. Their performance brought a formal and lively start to the celebration.
SCDOE Director Prof Amar Raj Singh Suri welcomed the gathering and shared the centre’s journey, vision, and mission. Calling it a milestone for flexible and inclusive education, he noted that SCDOE, established in 2022, had already grown to serve more than 11,000 learners. These included working professionals, teachers, IAS officers, executives, and students from rural, urban, and international backgrounds.
He outlined recent academic developments — bilingual lectures in English and Hindi, regular Masterclasses with industry professionals, expanded student support, and skill-based learning integrated with Generative AI. The centre now offers online programs such as MBA, MA English Literature, MCA, MSc Data Science, BCom (Hons), BBA, BCA, and MAJMC, with BA set to launch soon.
A key highlight of the year was SCDOE’s Silver Rating in the Times Higher Education Online Learning Rankings (OLR) 2024, placing it among the top 25 online learning institutions globally. This, together with Shoolini University’s NAAC A+ accreditation, strengthened the institution’s position in digital education.
The convocation brought together senior leaders, including Trustees Ashok Anand and Satish Anand; SILB President Saroj Khosla, and Shoolini University Registrar Prof Sunil Puri.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Vishal Anand joined online to congratulate the graduates and acknowledge the centre’s growth.
Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla spoke to the students through four real stories drawn from Chancellor Prof PK Khosla, Dr APJ. Abdul Kalam, Nobel Laureate Dr Robert Huber, and Steve Jobs. Each story highlighted qualities that helped people shape meaningful careers — courage, ambition, perseverance, and the ability to take risks.
Chancellor Prof PK Khosla encouraged graduates to align their body, mind, and soul as they move into new roles and responsibilities.
Chief guest Prof Sobti spoke about the Sustainable Development Goals, sustainability, and the wider purpose of education. He appreciated Shoolini University’s academic efforts and the work of its faculty members.
In his Vote of Thanks, Prof Ashish Khosla, President and Chief Innovation and Marketing Officer acknowledged everyone who contributed to the event and congratulated the graduating class.
Degrees were awarded to all students present. Sushma Devi received the Gold Medal for MBA, and Aaryan Sharma received the Certificate of Honour for MA English Literature.
