Shoolini University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Southampton, UK, to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
A high-level delegation from the University of Southampton — including its President and Vice-Chancellor Prof Mark E Smith, and Vice-President (International and Engagement) Prof Andrew Atherton — visited the Shoolini campus for a two-day engagement. The visit was coordinated by the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Shoolini University.
During their visit, the delegation toured Shoolini’s key research and innovation facilities, including the Vardhman Research Lab, Nanotechnology Lab, IPR Cell, and the AI and Futures Centre. They also inaugurated the newly established Centre for Creative Technology, developed as a space where design, innovation, and emerging technologies come together.
The guests were also briefed on the university’s sustainability efforts and eco-friendly campus infrastructure.
The Centre for Creative Technology aims to support students, faculty, and professionals in fields such as product design, digital media, animation, user experience, and other emerging tech areas. The goal is to prepare a new generation of creators, technologists, and entrepreneurs through strong academic and industry-linked learning.
Prof Mark E Smith said the two universities would collaborate across research, innovation, and education. “AI is reshaping academic and cultural engagement globally,” he said.
Prof Andrew Atherton praised Shoolini’s focus on sustainability and innovation. “We see significant potential in working together on education and research initiatives,” he said.
Shoolini Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla called the partnership timely. “As the global academic landscape changes rapidly, institutions must stay agile and responsive,” he said. Chancellor Prof PK Khosla added that research continues to be at the heart of Shoolini’s academic mission.
The MoU outlines collaboration in key areas, such as student and faculty exchange, joint research, dual-degree programmes, summer schools, and academic conferences. It was formally signed by Prof Atul Khosla and Prof Mark E Smith in the presence of university leadership.
Office of International Affairs Deputy Director Rozy Dhanta, who facilitated the visit, said the partnership would open new doors for both universities. “This is a step forward in offering global exposure to our students and faculty,” she said.
