India’s first female Indian army cadet delivers guru series talk at SU
India’s first woman officer to join the Army, Priya Jhingan visited Shoolini University to speak at the Guru Series of Lectures.This is a series of academic and inspirational talks that are hosted at Shoolini University on a monthly basis to inspire the students. Jhingan visited the campus in March, where she emphasized on the importance and need for developing leadership skills.
According to Jhingan, a strong character holds utmost importance for anyone who wants to succeed in life. She asked females students to never feel inferior to their male counterparts. She also stressed on the importance of family values and asked students to respect their parents. Speaking about her journey, she gave various examples from her life to motivate the students.
Students took away the message to never give up on their dreams and keep working hard to achieve them. On 21 September, 1992 Priya Jhingan enrolled and became the first lady cadet to join the Indian Army.She was cadet No. 001 at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. A decade later, she retired from the service in 2002.
The Guru Series of Lectures is a platform initiated by Shoolini University, which invites experts from different industries and subject matter experts to share their intellectual discourse with students and faculty members. This initiative was started by Shoolini University vice chancellor PK Khosla in memory of Swami Parmahansa Yogananda.
