
Shoolini University Honours Agriculture Pioneer MS Swaminathan
Shoolini University Chancellor Prof PK Khosla unveiled the statue of the ‘Father of Green Revolution in India,’ MS Swaminathan on the campus. The event, held on February 18, 2024, brought together university dignitaries, faculty, staff, and spirited students to commemorate the iconic figure's contributions to Indian agriculture.
Addressing the audience, Chancellor Khosla paid homage to MS Swaminathan, emphasising his pivotal role in revolutionising Indian agriculture. He highlighted Swaminathan's visionary leadership, which not only transformed Indian agriculture but also safeguarded the nation's food security and prosperity.
In addition, he mentioned the recent conferral of the Bharat Ratna award upon Swaminathan by the Indian government, recognising his contributions to the agricultural sector. He also mentioned his satisfaction with the university’s research trajectory and said, “A recent publication by a Shoolini faculty member in the 'Nature' journal is the evidence of the high-quality research being conducted at the university.” Reflecting on this moment, he recalled the blessings of his Guru, Swami Krishnananda ji, who envisioned that one day Shoolini would also produce a Nobel Laureate.
Notable guests present at the event included Saroj Khosla, Founder President and Trustee of the Foundation for Liberal Sciences and Business Management (FLSBM), which runs Shoolini University and Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences Business Management (SILB); Vice Chancellor Atul Khosla; Shoolini University Trustees Satish Anand and Ashok Anand; Global Advisory Board Member Prof RC Sobti; President and Chief Innovation and Marketing Officer Ashish Khosla; Chief Learning Officer Ashoo Khosla; Director of Placements & Admissions Avnee Khosla; Prof JM Julka, and Registrar Sunil Puri.
The unveiling of the statue of Bharat Ratna MS Swaminathan is a tribute to the visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire generations and propel progress in the agricultural sector.
