Awareness Drive and Cleanliness Drive Mark World Cancer Day at Shoolini
Shoolini University, in association with YouWeCan, organized an awareness drive on 3 February, 2018 at Karyala, Gram Panchayat, Barog to mark World Cancer Day. Dr. Reena Vohra and Ms. Anupriya from Shoolini University accompanied the volunteers in this drive and conducted a session on women’s hygiene and empowerment.
Dr. Reena enlightened women about the causes of cervical cancer and how it can be prevented. Ms. Anupriya apprised them of the legal and constitutional rights provided by the government to women. The volunteers of YWC interacted with the participants and shed light on the importance of menstrual hygiene to prevent diseases. The main highlight of the drive was the distribution of environment friendly sanitary napkins developed by Goonj free of cost among the women.
The event concluded with the undergraduate students of FMLA undertaking a drive to clean the nearby roads. The last leg of the drive intended to sensitize the locals about the maintenance of cleanliness around them.
The event also saw participation from a large number of local women who were educated about the most essential issues that are detrimental to their well-being. The efforts made by Shoolini University as well as YouWeCan and the enthusiasm shown by the volunteers in this regard were appreciated by all.
