From timeless hits to inspiring stories, the music legend made it a night to remember
An unforgettable evening unfolded at Shoolini University as music icon Usha Uthup headlined the celebration of the university’s NAAC A+ accreditation. Her soulful songs and inspiring stories resonated with the audience, adding warmth and meaning to the occasion.
The event marked an important milestone for Shoolini, bringing together faculty, staff, and students in a collective moment of pride and appreciation for the university’s academic growth and achievements.
The evening began with a warm welcome and felicitation of Usha Uthup by Founder Chancellor Prof PK Khosla and SILB President Prof Saroj Khosla. Members of the university leadership, including Pro Chancellor Vishal Anand, Trustee and Director Nishtha Shukla Anand, Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla, Vice President Avnee Khosla, President (Innovation and Marketing) Ashish Khosla, and Chief Learning Officer Dr Ashoo Khosla, also attended the celebration.
The highlight of the evening was Uthup’s electrifying live performance. Known for her powerful voice and dynamic stage presence, she sang across genres and languages—delighting the crowd with classics like Skyfall by Adele and I Just Called to Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder. Her popular Hindi hits, including Koi Yahan Nache Nache and Darling, had the audience dancing and singing along. A standout moment came during Ekla Cholo Re, when the venue went dark and only cell phone flashlights lit up the space—creating a quiet, powerful connection among everyone present. Applause, cheers, and spontaneous dancing kept the energy high throughout the evening.
Dressed in her signature Indian attire, Uthup shared personal experiences from her musical journey. She spoke about being bullied as a child for her deep voice, and how she eventually embraced what made her different. Her story of turning adversity into strength struck a powerful note with the audience.
“Singing on a campus is a very challenging experience because the kids already know what they want, but it is also exciting,” she said. “Being close to nature brings a different kind of romance and magic to everything.”
Uthup also introduced her Kanjivaram Sneakers—footwear made from traditional saree fabric. Now available at the Shoolini Merch Store, the sneakers caught the attention of students and faculty for their creative blend of tradition and style.
The evening was a celebration not just of the university’s achievements, but of individuality, creativity, and community. With music, conversation, and a shared sense of purpose, the NAAC A+ celebration at Shoolini University was a memorable chapter in its ongoing journey.
