Make best use of govt schemes & projects: Himachal CM
Shoolini University celebrated its 7th Convocation on the university campus with great enthusiasm on October 16. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was the chief guest, and Col Dhani Ram Shandil (retd), Health Minister of the Himachal Pradesh Government, was the guest of honour. A total of 2200 degrees were conferred upon students across various programs, including 53 doctorates and 60 gold medalists.
During his address, the Chief Minister encouraged students to benefit from government schemes and projects to become entrepreneurs. He highlighted several government initiatives, including the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School, education loans at 1 per cent interest up to Rs 20 lakh, and full fee waivers for underprivileged children. He urged students to seize these opportunities for personal and state development while also supporting startups.
Chief Minister Sukhu also discussed subsidies to promote electric vehicles and investments in green hydrogen projects, with a focus on encouraging flower culture. He advised students not to limit their aspirations to seeking jobs alone but encouraged them to explore these opportunities for personal growth. He predicted that within a decade, Himachal Pradesh would emerge as the wealthiest state.
Commending the achievements of Himachal students, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu stressed the importance of good governance to ensure the well-being of all residents.
Col Dhani Ram Shandil (retd) discussed the role of education as an instrument of prosperity and encouraged students to remember their teachers and parents throughout their lives.
ATLAS SkillTech University Vice Chancellor Rajan Welukar called upon everyone to show appreciation for their mentors, parents, and the founders of the university, expressing gratitude for their success.
Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) Chairman Sanjay Kumar emphasised that Himachal has the potential to become a health hub and a leading player in floriculture. He stressed the need for processing and storage hubs, highlighting the significant potential of floriculture, the study of growing and marketing flowers and foliage plants.
Lt Gen JS Negi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, CSM (retd), emphasised the importance of discipline and environmental focus. He noted that a university's growth also depended on the dedication of its faculty.
The ceremony also saw the attendance of several dignitaries, such as ATLAS SkillTech University Vice Chancellor Rajan Welukar, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) Chairman Sanjay Kumar, and Lt Gen JS Negi (retd), a decorated military officer.
The Shoolini University trustees, including Saroj Khosla, Satish Anand, Ashok Anand, Gagan Anand, Ashish Khosla, Dr Ashoo Khosla, and Avnee Khosla were also in attendance to mark this momentous occasion.
Taking the podium, Chancellor Prof PK Khosla emphasised the importance of research in higher education, affirming Shoolini University's commitment to producing top-tier scholars.
Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla highlighted research as the university's primary focus to achieve expertise, asserting Shoolini's status as the No.1 research university in citations, both in the private and public sectors.
Shoolini Registrar Prof Sunil Puri warmly welcomed dignitaries and guests. He thanked Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and all the dignitaries and guests who made the 7th Convocation unforgettable.
