Prateek Sheth Dawesar
Teaching Associate
Prateek Sheth Dawesar is a teaching associate at the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences. His academic journey includes an M Phil in Psychology from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and a Master’s in Psychology, and a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in English and Psychology.
At the PhD level, Prateek’s work focuses on behavioural finance, with a particular emphasis on cognitive biases and re‑trading tendencies as determinants of profitability and psychological well‑being in financial traders. He has developed a preliminary scale to measure the prevalence of cognitive biases and re‑trading tendencies in financial markets, addressing a gap where no such tool previously existed. His research examines how these cognitive patterns shape trading behaviour among youth, how they relate to portfolio profitability, and how they influence traders’ overall psychological well‑being.
Prateek’s earlier research built a strong foundation in clinical and health psychology. In his current role as Teaching Associate at Shoolini University, Prateek supports the academic and instructional responsibilities of the department, while also guiding students through research projects and course content.
Prateek’s professional experience also includes working as a School Psychologist at Solan Public School, where he collaborated with teachers and administrators to support adolescents’ emotional and academic development. He conducted psycho‑educational assessments, provided individual and group counselling, and designed interventions tailored to students’ needs.
Prateek has presented and updated his knowledge through conferences and workshops on applied psychology, stress and burnout, learning disabilities, and psychological testing. His publications include empirical work on emotional quotient and political correctness as well as recent studies comparing psychological well‑being and burnout among doctors during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Across research, teaching, and practice, he brings strong quantitative skills (correlation, ANOVA, MANOVA, ANCOVA, regression), proficiency in SPSS and office software, and interpersonal strengths as an active listener, empathetic counsellor, and clear communicator.
