Y S Negi is a Professor at the School of Agriculture at Shoolini University. Holding a distinguished academic background, Prof Negi is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, USA and HP University, Shimla. His dedication to the field of Natural Resource Economics is reflected in his status as one of the leading teachers and researchers in the country.
With a prolific research portfolio boasting over 80 published papers and numerous other publications, Prof Negi has carved a niche for himself in his areas of interest. He has demonstrated exceptional mentorship, guiding numerous Doctoral, Master’s, and MBA students through their research endeavours.
His professional journey is marked by a diverse range of roles and responsibilities. Before joining Shoolini University, he held positions including Students’ Welfare Officer, Professor & Head of the Department of Business Management, Professor & Head of the Department of Social Sciences, Officer-on-Special-Duty to the Vice Chancellor, and Coordinator of the Mountain Women Development Centre at Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni, Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
Furthermore, he has contributed significantly to various research projects in Applied Economics, being associated with more than 25 such projects. His expertise has been sought after nationally, as evidenced by his roles on expert panels such as the Agricultural Services Recruitment Board in New Delhi, and as an expert in socio-economics for evaluating research projects at esteemed institutions like the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education in Dehradun and the Himalayan Forest Research Institute in Shimla.
Beyond his academic and research pursuits, Prof Negi is well-travelled, having visited countries such as the USA, UK, Thailand, Nepal, and Pakistan. This exposure enriches his perspectives and enhances his ability to contribute meaningfully to the academic community.
