Vishal Sharma is an Assistant Professor at Shoolini University. He completed his graduation in Biotechnology from Himachal Pradesh University and got his Master’s and PhD in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology with a specialisation in Plant Tissue Culture and Crop Improvement from Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan.
Asst Prof Sharma gathered extensive postdoctoral experience from several renowned institutions, including CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, and the National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute, Mohali. His research focuses on various aspects of Plant Biotechnology, providing him with vast experience in Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Biology, Molecular Breeding, Mutation Breeding, and Genome Editing.
He has published numerous research and review papers in internationally reputed, SCI-indexed journals and contributed several book chapters and popular articles covering various disciplines of Plant Biotechnology. He has also participated in numerous scientific talks at national and international conferences.
At the School of Biotechnology, Asst Prof Sharma teaches courses in Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Genomics. His research is mainly focused on plant tissue culture and the production of secondary metabolites from medicinally rich plants of the North-Western Himalayas. He is dedicated to improving wild and underutilised fruits and berries of Himachal Pradesh.
